The Planning

Planning a trip through the western United States was a daunting task. So much of this beautiful country we have seen, but as we are taking our RV, we are able to explore further and really camp in nature. We started planning in December reservations fill up early.

As Victoria and Caroline are coming too, they got a vote where we would begin. They were adamant that the Grand Canyon be on the agenda. So we're going the back way up the 95 to the Grand Canyon - and of course if you're out that way, you have to see Zion.

From there we head up to Park City, UT. Mom wants to see it again as she has fond memories. Then to Jackson - where we are staying in 3 places for 4 days. Very difficult to get reservations.

Then we head for parts unknown, Montana! Ennis, Bozeman, Missoula, Flathead lake! We are very excited to explore a new state.

That takes us through June and most of July. After that we are headed to the famed Sandpoint ID. Then down to Coeur d'Alene - over to the Columbia River Gorge, Portland, where we'll see a college fair for Caroline. From there we head up the coast to Astoria, before coming back down to Yahats. We have a camping stop right on the beach for Mom's birthday. Lovely way to end our trip.

On the way down we hope to see UC Santa Cruz and Sonoma State - two possibilities for Caroline. Although they are far away, they would be great schools surrounded by nature for her.

So as we countdown to the start of our trip, we have packing and organizing to do. We feel excited, nervous, unprepared and over-prepared! My hope that this trip will be full of family fun and very relaxing.

Please let me know if you'd like to follow this blog and I'll put you on the list! Home is so lovely, we will miss it. But excited to find out what's in the Wild West!
